v1.7.0 is out on the open testing channel, going to everyone on it from today. After a few days there it moves to the Play Store for everyone, probably next week. It gets the app ready for Android 17, adds a couple of things people asked for, and fixes most of what was reported since v1.6.1.

The plugin has a new release. v1.5.0 is the first plugin update since v1.4.1 in 2021, and it is the second half of the modernization effort that produced v1.6.0 of the Android app earlier this year.

The plugin drops support for apps older than v1.1.0, adds some quality of life fixes, modernizes the implementation and sets the base for future development.

v1.6.1 is out on the open testing channel. It's a small follow-up to v1.6.0 with stability fixes rather than new features. In the meantime the v1.6.0 rollout on the Play Store keeps widening, and the goal is to fully replace the old v1.5.1 over the next few weeks.

v1.6.0 is out. After a long run of release candidates, the final build is published, and MusicBee Remote is listed on the Play Store again after a spell unlisted. For now v1.6.0 is on the open testing channel, with the staged production rollout planned for next week.

rc.4 is out on GitHub Releases and heading to the Play Store testing channel. This one closes out several more crashes that surfaced on rc.3.

Two updates today: rc.3 is out with a handful of stability fixes, and the Play Store beta has been approved and is live on the testing channel.

v1.6.0 is now in release-candidate territory. rc.1 went up a couple of days ago, and rc.2 is out today. If you want to help shake out the last issues before v1.6.0 ships, this is the moment.

A preview of what's coming in v1.6.0: the first major update in a long time, and the one that brings MusicBee Remote back to the Play Store.

Development entered hiatus in July 2018 due to relocation. Prior to pause, significant progress made on plugin rewrite with new features like podcast support. Android app rewrite was incomplete, featuring major architectural changes (Room/Paging replacing DBFlow, MVVM replacing MVP) and improved sync mechanism. Project open for collaboration, though currently inactive.

Project continues with focus on optimization, particularly improving library metadata sync (reduced from 5-6 minutes to 16-17 seconds for 16,000 tracks). New features planned include radio station sync, output switching, and library view sorting. Users encouraged to report issues on GitHub.

v1.0.0 released with library browsing and playlist support. Website updated using Jekyll platform. v1.0.1 available on Play Store, with v1.0.2 planned for bug fixes. v2.0.0 in development will bring major changes including album covers, improved album views, enhanced playlist management, and shift from TCP Socket to web technologies (HTTP/WebSocket). Future web application planned. Downloads now available through GitHub Releases.

Windows Defender incorrectly flagging plugin installer as malware; dispute submitted. VirusTotal shows only two minor engines marking it as malicious, while major antivirus engines find no issues. Plugin built using NSIS, and build machines run Avast with no infection reports. Manual installation via 7z archive available as alternative.

New version available in Play Store testing channel with matching plugin v0.12 required. Plans to move to stable channel in a week if no issues found. Next minor update to include lockscreen/homescreen widget before resuming work on playlist and library support features.

Development delayed due to mandatory 9-month army service starting March 11th. Limited computer and internet access expected during this period, affecting update timeline and communication responsiveness.
